We started our 12 week pilot "Bully No More Ambassadors" program at an inner city elementary school yesterday. We had 15 kids from several grades. WOW!!! What a challenge and what a wonderful group. Having the staff of the school support this is so wonderful and makes the job so smooth. We are doing four parts-what is bullying? why is bullying harmful? How do I protect myself from being bullied? and how we can prevent bullying. These kids were wonderful. Dynamo was the spokesdog and he really warms up the group. Kids can relate to him and understand topics easier when I use him. I talked about how we can see that he has never been bullied-because he is friendly and loving and goes up to the kids. We have a handout for the kids that gave them a lot of freedom to complete. I was amazed at their creativity! These kids were open, could talk about being bullied, seeing others being bullied, and agreeing that it needs to be stoped. We are doing the pay it forward view-I give them tools for recognizing and eradicating bullying and they pass it on to others. They love the idea. Now the goal is to get this in schools everywhere.
