Romeo and Dynamo Newsletter # 5

small_IMG_0135_0.JPG

Well, here we are for our fifth newsletter. Lots of things have happened in the last few weeks. Romeo and Dynamo are both working in the schools with the bully prevention program. They are both also working in two different elementary schools doing reading with the kids and other stuff. Let them tell you what is going on and what they are learning.

Romeo: Hey Dynamo, how do you like what is going on at the schools? I am really enjoying the SAINTS program and I am looking forward to our school assembly when we introduce the program.

Bullying prevention program using therapy dogs

ROMEO AND DYNAMO NEWSLETTER #4
Since we last corresponded, Romeo and his mom finished the summer program. It went really well. They used what they learned to develop a program for the school year-and it has just started. In addition, Dynamo got certified as a therapy dog-with Livi, his six year old owner. (You see, Dynamo belongs to Livi, but lives with her grandmother and Romeo.) Soooo… when he gets registered, he can do the therapy dog stuff with Romeo. As you can tell, Dynamo is very proud of himself, and Romeo is a little sick of hearing about how great Dynamo is-over and over. Let’s listen a bit.

Romeo and Dynamo…#3

Welcome to our third newsletter. It has been a little while since we wrote, but we have been busy. Dynamo graduated (barely) from his second level of obedience school and Romeo started his Tag Wagging Tutor program. For those of you who don’t know, this is when therapy dogs go to schools and read with kids. It is really neat. And now Romeo has started the Bully-nomore prevention program at a middle school. He has done two sessions and it has been really great.

Dynamo: You know Romeo, I want to do the bully program too and I bet I could be really good with helping kids read.

Romeo: Yeah, I guess. But you aren’t a Therapy dog yet and I am. And frankly, I think you might be too wild to be a therapy dog. You almost failed your class.

Dynamo: No I didn’t. I just want to give everyone a hard time. I know how to do all of the stuff-it’s just that sometimes I don’t want to do it.

"Ask Romeo\Ask Dynamo" No.2

Ask Romeo Ask Dynamo

Well, here we are again. We are hanging out and thinking about bullying and what we can do about it. We think that things are going to be getting worse because of all the money troubles many people are having. You know, bullying seems to get worse when times are tough. When people are feeling stressed and unhappy, they seem to become angry quicker and to take out their anger at others. It is really sad and we hope we that we can do something to help people not be bullies and not get bullied.

Romeo: “Hey Dynamo, what if I got upset at you and chased you all over the house just because I wasn’t happy. How would you feel?”

"Ask Romeo\Ask Dynamo" No..1

Ask RomeoHi. We are Dynamo and Romeo. This is the first of our newsletter. We hope to build it up so we are giving and sharing a lot if information to you. We are here to help you learn about bullying-what it is and what it isn’t. We are a cool blend of big and small, Romeo is a big guy who is gentle and nice and really mellow. Dynamo is a little guy with a big mouth-that sometimes gets him into trouble. Both of us can be bullies, and both of us can be bullied-in different ways. We want to share our different and sometimes similar perspectives with you about bullying-what it is, how to deal with it, and how to prevent it. Hopefully, we will have some fun with this and do some really good work.
